I am sure I have overlooked this information, but...
Does anyone know what the renewal fee is?
Where is it posted, for future reference?

Thanks!!!

$34.50 -- same as application fee to Prothonotary. Good for 3 years instead of 2 though.

Thanks for the info...much appreciated.

I figure I may as well submit my renewal as early as possible.

I file my renewals in person at the Prothonotary. If you do that, bring the original form, the two "color passport-style photographs," and two checks. One will be for the $34.50, and the other is for the $1.00 copying & notarizing fee.

They will also accept $1 cash for the copying fee, but I can't guarantee they will have change for a larger bill...

You may want one of those checks blank. The Governor signed HR258. This will increase the fee to 65.00 for a 5 year term. I called Thursday or Friday about it and they did not know anything about it.

I have never been charged anything for the Prothonotary to notarize my signature. I already have 2 copies of everything for them before I arrive, so copying has never been needed.

Not sure why. I've had to pay the $1 for both my original application and my first renewal.

Whether to charge notary fees is up to the notary. The Prothonotary's Office generally charges them. If you don't have to pay, consider yourself lucky!

Perhaps it has been a matter of fortune...I don't really know.

When I went in to drop off my original application, I was expecting pay for the notarization...I even extended the $1 to the notary and she refused to take it. Last month, when delivering my renewal, I assumed that not charging for the notarization was standard so I never offered and they never asked for payment.

It's just a dollar, not a big deal, but that has been my experience.

told that they do not charge to notarize their own forms, but will charge if something else needs to be notarized.
