In Feb. someone looking at my LTCCDW noticed it had expired in May 2018. <sigh> When I put it on my calendar it was entered for May 2019. (Don't get old.)

So I called Ms. Broom and she said no worries, write a letter to the judge and send in my renewal. She said it would get approved but that it would be back dated to May 2018. So I did that.

Submitted on April 25 and just got it yesterday, July 2. ~2 months now a days.

Nice having a card that does not look like it was made by a kindergartner. That is what a VA cop told me once when he looked at it.

The new ones are definitely a huge improvement in card quality. IIRC the old ones not only looked cheap, but some actually had the colors reversed on the jackets of the people in the state seal.

I remember. Yes, a huge improvement for the state.

Speaking of permits and renewals, how often does one have to renew them, and at which time in the year, if any? Because my wife and I were planning to get a house in Larnaca and spend a couple weeks or months per year there, and I don't want to have issues with my gun rights if I'm abroad for extended periods of time, or at the wrong time.

The first permit is good for 3 years and renewals are good for 5 years. I believe every permit in the state expires May 31st of their respective years and that you can submit your renewal paperwork as early as January of the year in which yours expires. There's a law that allows you to continue carrying with an expired CCDW if they don't get around to processing your application before the old permit expires, but you do have to have your renewal paperwork in on time for it to apply and you'd probably want to carry some evidence that you did so with you (like the receipt for paying the renewal fee).
