Can you open carry when at the canal? I'm talking about the land surrounding it.

I found this:

http://www.stateparks.com/gmaps/curloca ... 72083&z=12

Which is a map showing state parks and the canal is not marked in any such way. I know the same guys who patrol the state parks patrol the canal area. But I don't think it is a state park. However there is a sign posted that says something to the effect of no rifled firearms.

I take my daughter down there on occasion to watch the ships pass by, or to run my dog at the retriever area. Is it legal to OC there?

Thanks.

I'm not sure of the legality, but that is a federal area and not a state park. State police do patrol there by agreement, but it is actually a federally-preserved area.

I believe it is DNEREC who patrols down there, at least I remember that is who gave me tickets for illegal off-roading during a misspent youth.

I stopped down there today and read the sign at the Summit north entrance and it stated "no target shooting" but did not explicitly say no firearms, I thought at least one of the signs stated "no rifled firearms" so the past few times I was headed down there I disarmed before entering. I'd rather not disarm if I don't legally have to, I'd also rather not be the first one to find out the hard way that I should have. :)

The DNREC patrol the C&D Canal. This should help. Look at #4

Based on that I would think open carry is legal except between March 1st and August 31st, right?
