So in an attempt to be more self reliant I decided I would take a swing at loading lead cast bullets. I've had experience in the past with casting slugs for my 12 gauge. The problem I'm running into right now is the diameter of the gas checks is coming in at .309. While it doesnt seem to be a huge difference, it is. When i attempt to seat the round with the gas check, it either wont seat properly or shaves a layer of lead off of the round. Does anyone have any advice or experience with this?

I don't think his problem is with putting the bullets in the cases, but getting the gas checks on the actual lead bullets.

.309 for an outside diameter sounds correct. If it shaves some lead off the casting so be it. I'd rather have them be on tight then falling off into the case.

I really wasn't paying that close of attention when putting the gas cheeks on but they were a tight fit. I was more concerned with making sure they were on squarely.
