Ok everyone Iv been getting rid of a lot of my weapons and moving more toward self and home defense. Now I have several pistols however I don't have any rifles. Been thinking about getting rid of some of the pistols (keeping one or two) and getting a AR and rebuilding my collection from there.

Question is keep the pistols and get a rifle later on or get a rifle and get more pistols later?

Are you planning to re-buy the exact same pistols? If you are, you'll probably end up losing more money than just keeping them and saving for the ar. If you're planning to buy different pistols, and don't want the ones you have now, then you might as well get rid of them and start on the ar build that you actually want.

What exactly are yo looking for in the AR build? I only ask because prices are just starting to return to somewhat normal. As an example PSA just had a kit for a 16" free float for $499. Add another $100 for a lower and you have a rifle. For the money that's not too bad.

Unless you want something more exotic, or spending more for optics the rifle could still be much more expensive. But selling just one really nice handgun, or two half decent ones could get you an AR fairly quickly.

JMHO here but I'm not selling anything in the near future & like Steve says the AR prices are starting to get "somewhat normal". I'd be thinking about getting one of the packages like was suggested & then get the lower later

Even the price of forged lowers has dropped. PSA has one on sale right now for $99.

From what I've seen their quality if pretty good. Best thing would be signing up for their e-mail notification. They have daily and weekend sales.

That latest one with a MI free floated rail being an excellent offer. Everything but the lower for $499. I don't know of any places that has that. The only place I could find a complete kit for less is from Model 1 Sales.

There you can get a complete kit, sans lower, for $485. I just don't know what the lag time is. For PSA if it's on sale it'll ship out in less then a week.
