Spread the word brothers and sisters.

To my law enforcement brethren: today I was asked to leave a local business because I was an armed off duty police officer carrying concealed!
I decided to take my 12 year old son to Frightland in Middletown, DE this evening (10/15/2015) around 6pm so he could have a fun time. Upon arrival, we walk through the metal detector, and as I expected, the alarm goes off. The security guard working the checkpoint was very nice, I informed him that I am a police officer and I am armed, I even showed him my credentials. He responded with “firearms are not allowed, but let me call a manager”.
Managers Jason Houghton and Debbie Hall responded to the front. I informed them that I am a police officer and that I am armed (however carrying concealed), again showing my credentials, their response was that firearms are not allowed on their grounds, regardless of the fact that I am a police officer. Ms. Hall then proceeded with “you’re not on duty and or in uniform, why do you need your firearm?” to which I responded “because I’m a cop” (this should never be a question). She then proceeded to say that I can do one of three things: I can leave my firearm with her (which I feel is absurd, as I will never relinquish my firearm to some unknown civilian), two, I can leave my firearm in my vehicle (which again is not an option as by this point, a half dozen people know that I am armed and would know if I left my firearm in my vehicle, which a vehicle even locked is not considered secured) or third, she advised that I cannot enter and I would have to leave.
She then proceeded to brag about how she has not allowed “US Marshals and FBI agents to enter because they were carrying their gun too”.
I find it amazing that in this day and age with violent attacks being so prevalent, a qualified armed police officer would not be welcome in any private business, especially while carrying concealed!!
Spread the word and let other officers know how this local establishment is treating its local law enforcement!!

This was a law enforcement officer how do you think they will treat someone OCing let alone someone with a CCDW?

I said on frightlands post, this didnt seem like so much of a gun issue as someone just on a power trip trying to assert what little authority they have in fantasy land over someone who has some real authority in the real world.

That's good to know that Frightland is anti.

As far as being LEO that shouldn't make a difference. Either all should be able to enter armed or none IMHO.

Agreed and I stated the same in a few of my responses on Facebook.

I have the utmost respect for LEO doing the tough job we gave them. I think part of the recent issues with LEO come from thinking us/them on both sides and not we. We are all in this together, our country, our problems.

Very true! Unfortunately there's a vast amount more of the sheep than the sheepdogs. It's pretty much like any group/club I've been a part of.... the majority rely too heavily on those willing few to do all of the work.

The concept that people use about LEOs having a higher percentage of a negative encounter outside of being on duty is logically true but it can also swing both ways. On one hand, those who've had dealings with LEO know what that LEO is capable of and probably won't want another dose. On the other hand, yeah there's people out there who might hold grudges against a LEO who they've had negative dealings with and those are the ones who'll try and get the drop on an officer with a weapon of some sort. For that reason in of itself it is best for off-duty LEOs to carry. The reason that Nick stated is another, they are bound by oath to interceed in the event they witness a crime. This world has gotten way to PC for my taste! :poed:

My son and his friends were planning a trip to frightland over the weekend but it didn't happen. I wasn't too upset. :troll:
