Well, first "incident" today (sorta). Ate at Cici's and nobody cared, then a little later went to Klondike Kate's in Newark for a meeting in their upper room. Nobody from the bar seemed to care (did get a couple of questions from others at the meeting) until I was about to leave. Our group was late breaking up, and they'd started putting up the DJ stuff. Most of our group had left and the stragglers were getting ready to leave when a manager walks up and asks if I'm a carrying, and then if I'm a cop. Sorry, I didn't have a witty remark ready, and just confirmed I was carrying (duh, he was standing on my strong side ) and I'm not a LEO. I though he was either just curious or was going to toss me out, but instead he just said that I couldn't have it "up here at night", and asked if I was leaving. I told him that I was because our group was leaving and tried to clarify what the policy actually is. He gave some explanation about the DJ stuff getting started and seemed content to let me leave at my own pace, since he disappeared into the backroom. I just said goodbye to the group and left on my own, no police presence or escort to the door.
So, I'm not sure what their policy actually is - nobody said anything when I got there at 7pm or during the next ~4 hours, only when the DJ stuff was getting started and they started carding at the door. I guess they just don't want guns when there's a less formal, drink lots of alcohol and party atmosphere. Shall I write them and ask for clarification?
