Cross-posted (copy/paste) from my OC log:
Monday, July 14 2008 around 7:30pm:
My fiancee and I hit the KFC for dinner (eat-in) tonight. The first person I noticed "noticing" was a Probation & Parole (P&P) employee (I assume a civilian), since he had the logo shirt. He was deer-in-headlight-ing me the entire time. We ordered our meals and stood to the side to wait. One of the younger guys noticed that I had a gun. Our conversation went something like this:
Him: (pointing at my gun) "Are you a cop?"
Me: "No."
Him: (doing the deer-in-headlight look) "Oh... so you have a permit."
Me: "No. You don't need a license to open carry."
Him: (thinking) "Oh, really?"
Me: "You need a license to conceal a firearm."
Him: "How old do you have to be?"
Me: "Um... it's either 21 or 18. Not exactly sure anymore since the NRA-"
Him: "Oh, well I'm 21 so it doesn't matter. What kind of gun is that?"
Me: "Springfield Armory XD-9."
Him: "Oh, so that's 9mm... Where'd you get it?"
Me: "Targetmaster up over the border in PA." By now another guy was listening in...
Him: "Cool. I'm gonna have to get me one of them..."
The lady gathering our food brought our's up, and she said "Wow. You scared me w/ that!" I said "Why's that?" but I don't remember what she said. The other guys asked another question, so I told them to hold on while I went out to my car to get some "business cards." All I had with me were the old website announcement cards (thanks Wynder for stealing all the "good" cards from Saturday), so I gave three of them out to the people who expressed interest in learning more (including the woman, since she said "Where's mine?" LOL). We grabbed our food and sat down. As we walked past the Probation & Parole guy, he was STILL deer-in-headlights....
We ate dinner, and about 5 minutes before we left, the P&P guy left. We finished up, and I told the one guy at the counter that I'd be back in w/ more cards (since the one guy didn't get one). When letting Carmen into the van, I noticed the P&P guy sitting in his car. I grabbed three more cards and took them inside and handed them out. When I returned top the van, the P&P guy was STILL there, so I looked at him like WTF Dude!!

He then put it in reverse and left. I figured he was running my license plate to see if he could catch me breaking the law or something. LMAO.
Overall, about 6 KFC employees saw and were interested in my gun and OC, and a few customers saw it, too. So, hopefully we'll get a few more members after tonight's encounter! They were certainly interested!
