This past Sunday my wife and I decided to stop in at Hollywood Grill (202 & 141 in Fairfax) for a late lunch while running errands.
We were going inside when we saw a couple leaving, so I held the door open for them. They BOTH noticed I was carrying. So in the parking lot next to the building we have a short conversation, paraphrased below:
Him: "Arkansas!"
Me: looking at him kind of blankly
Him: "You can carry open like that in Arkansas"
Me: "Oh, OK. You can carry like that here, too!"
Him: "We just moved here 6 months ago. It's good to know civilians can open carry here."
Me: "Yeah, and you don't need a license to carry open like this. If you conceal it, then you'd need a license."
Him: "OK, that's good to know. Thank you! Have a good day."
Me: "Same to you!"
I didn't get a chance to hand him a card (kept in my car) because after each sentence in our conversation, he got closer and closer to his car. LOL. I guess he was in a hurry to get home?
Overall, a very positive friendly public encounter.
