Just yesterday, I was driving through Main Street in Newark..um...texting my wife. Cop pulls me over..for texting. Yeah yeah yeah, I know..don't judge me! LOL. He takes my license and registration and thanks me for having my gun visible so that he could see it and gives me the thumbs up. I'm thinking...GREAT! We bonded! No ticket! WRONG! I get a $76 ticket for texting while driving and he lets me know to pay attention to stop signs in my neighborhood because there have been complaints of drivers blowing through them. Well...at least the gun part of the experience was positive!! :troll:

Did you fess up to texting under his accusation? From what I understand, SC has now said that cops can't search phones without a warrant. Would make texting in the lap (although a horribly stupid idea, as I'm sure you know) very difficult to prove without being able to open the phone and look at the texting log. I've always wondered how they'd go about pursuing that should the driver claim innocence.

I think this comes under witness testimony, "I saw him breaking the law your honor." I think this works like the seat belt laws, when you see the flashing lights and pull over, you are putting on your seat belt, right? You still get the ticket though.
